craftsman lawnmower
i have a craftsman lawnmower 7.0. model #917378941 .
ever since i replaced the wheel key, i have been getting a ticking type sound. around the same time, i accidentally had some plastic burn on the muffler. the muffler holes do not appear to be blocked. any thoughts on what this ticking sound is?

You refer to a wheel key, if it was the flywheel key why was it replaced. That usually is the results of hitting something and things get bent. Remove the sparkplug and turn the engine over slowly to see what is hitting what. Have a good one. Geo
