coil on homelite weedeater

The weedeater will not start. And it seems to appear that there is no fire at the plug. I disconnected the two wires that are located on the coil, but it still will not fire. My question to you is, "Does both of the wires on the coill need to be disconnected in order to bypass the shut off switch?" Thank you for your time.

What model weedeater are we talking about?

Disconnect the wire that goes from the coil to the kill switch. If there is another wire involved, leave it connected.
