Rear-tine Tiller: engine problem?

Before you ask...no, it's not the gas cap.

The thing seems to idle fine, but as soon as I engage the drive or the tines, it craps out. It appears as though it's not getting enough gas, but I'm not sure. I've tried adjusting the carbureator screw without success.

I bought the thing used and the owner said he inherited it and it wasn't ran for about a year. Is it possible that the ?jet? is clogged?

I've read on here before about the gas cap vent getting clogged and causing problems. I've ran this thing without the gas cap even on to rule it out.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the carb needs to be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled using new diaphragm and gasket. Also make sure the tank isn't full of rust, especially at the bowl area for the carb.

Yeah, it seems like it's just not getting gas. Since it's supposed to rain this weekend, I plan on tearing into it. We'll see how it goes. Thanx
