governer on new tecumseh motor

governer on new tecumseh motor

i just bought a new motor for my go cart and when i installed everything it will idle but wont rev up. i can watch the throttle move thru the full swing but it never moves the governer spring. it looks like the gov spring is to long it just starts to grab at the end of throttle movement. i can manually move the govener and get it to rev up. not sure if i have to bend the spring or adjust anything. it looks like someone bent the spring on the old motor. it is a 6.0 hp powersport motor. model ohh60. any help would be great.

You can bend the tang the spring hooks to on the throttle control assembly to gain more RPM. But, It sounds like you don't have your throttle cable mounted/adjusted properly.....
