Briggs & Stratton- gushing gas, oil and gas mixed

I have a craftsman lawn tractor with a B&S 28U707 engine. It dies whenever able to start. It is gushing gas from the breather tube connected to the air filter base. Also, I removed the oil fill tube to find gas in with the oil.

Sounds like a piece of trash got under the float needle valve or the needle valve is bad or fuel is inside the float. For just a few bucks I replace the float valve when I go into one that's flooding. Check the float by shaking it between your fingers, It fuel is inside you will feel it.

Here's a paste I keep handy;

Take the carb. off then tear it down, Spray carb. & choke cleaner with the straw through ALL ports, passages and jets then blow it out with compressed air if available then re-assemble, Check/clean the fuel tank and flush/replace the fuel hose and install a new fuel filter then change the oil.

Good Luck
