governor problem 6HP B&S engine won't REV

Engine starts and idles fine. The governor appears to overcome the pull of the trottle spring. Help !

Not knowing what you have, I'll hazard a guess and assume. Look at the throttle spring. One end hooks to the throttle linkage rod. The other end hooks to a hole in a metal tab near the front of the engine. Bend this tab father outward towards the front of the engine until the rpms reach desired speed. This tab commonly gets bent back when the mower is pushed under obstacles, like bushes.
