John Deere 111 B&S 252707 0201-01

I removed the head to clean the carbon deposits. I checked the valves and valve seats to see if they needed lapping. The valves and valve seats were smooth and shiny. No discoloration at all so I didn't lap them. I was told to torque the head bolts @ 140 ft/lbs. I was doing the incremental torques at 50 lbs and one bolt broke. Is 140 lbs correct? Should I replace all the head bolts?

That is 140 inch/lbs not foot/lbs which would equate to 11.666 ft/lbs. Have a good one. Geo

Oh man...you may have bigger problems if you cranked em down anywhere near that tight. The bolts won't stand 140 ft lbs, and the head is probably warped and maybe cracked.
