Craftsman 5600w Genny

FIRST TIME USER. THANKS TO EVERYONE IN ADVANCE.

I BOUGHT THIS GENNY AT A YARD SALE AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY OUTPUT VOLTAGE. I TRIED "FLASHING THE FIELD" BY CONNECTING A 12V BATTERY TO THE BRUSH TERMINALS BUT THERE WAS NO SPARK. CONNECTED EVERYTHING BACK UP AND THERE IS STILL NO VOLTAGE. ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

Plug a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb into it and rev up the engine manually a little bit (don't blow it up)...see if you get a response from the bulb. Make sure the breakers or overload switches are good...verify with an ohmmeter.
