Do you have an ohmmeter or test light? You have a short. Disconnect one of the battery cables and connect a test light from the cable to the battery. Turn on the ignition, unplug the carburetor fuel solenoid, and look at the test light. If it is glowing, the short is present. Unplug different components until the light goes out. When the light goes out, the short is gone. If it's not a component failure, then you'll have to chase a pinched, burned, or chaffed wire. Have you had the starter off recently? Look behind the starter for a pinched wire between the starter case and the engine.
