Snapper deck help

Snapper deck help

recently (for free) aquired a 30" RER.......deck needs some TLC...vibrates alot..blade is ok, belt is ok....how do i remove the main pulley/spindle, etc...?

You'll have to remove the nut from the top pulley and then the shaft will drop down through the mandrel out the bottom of the deck.

Usually the vibration is caused by one short section of belt that is burned thin.

the pulley is stuck like chuck on the threaded end of the shaft, i can get the bolt off, after that , nothing.....is there anything else holding the pulley, spindle on or can i just start smacking the shaft?

Well, I don't think you want to smack the shaft or you'll wind up ruining the threads, unless you use a block of wood or something like that. I don't think the shaft will go down until you get the pulley up and off, because of the key that holds the pulley in place....it won't fit through the bearings until the key is removed.

Are the bearings bad or something? Why are you removing the shaft?
