weedwacker bump line problem

I have a three year old homelite curved shaft weedeater that has been working perfectly but now I need to change the line and can't get the bump head off to remove the line feed.
It turns but feels like it is stripped out.
Any idea what I should do about this?
thanks.

I've had some that the plastic around the bolt head stripped out on, and I had to cut the plastic knob away from the bolt to remove it and then replace the knob.

Yes, this is a gas unit.

I thought about breaking it away from the bolt but haven't had any luck yet. Guess I'll have to give it more force.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!
