Poulan HD145H42J (1998) Lawn tractor

Put transmission oil SAE 20W50 and new belt #141416. Tractor ran good for ten minuts. While going uphill it looses traction but on plane and downhill it runs fine. Also in reverse gear it has little or no traction.

Are you sure that you got the transmission full?

There may be some air in system that needs to work it's way out.

You can jack up the drive wheels off the ground, then start up your mower and alternately run it in forward for a minute and then in reverse for a minute. Do this for several minutes and any air trapped in the transmission should work it's way out.

Also make sure the bypass valve is closed (this is the valve controlled by the lever you move so you can push the riding mower)
