B&S 500 Series Engine Leaks Oil

Model: 10T502 Type: 0457B1 158 cc

Bought a Troy Bilt edger a month ago and it has leaked oil underneath since day one. Not much, only a few drops a day. It is dripping from that round disk the pulley is attached to under the engine.

1) I would guess there is some sort of seal on the shaft leaving the engine.....any chance this will 'heal thy self' after using it a few times? I've run it less than an hour.

2) If I use it till fall then bring it in on warranty, any chance they'll say I should have brought it in right a way for warranty work? Warranty is 2 years.

Thanks,

Baldwin

It does sound like the crankshaft seal is bad. The sooner you go after the warranty the easier it is. I have seen more seals this year where the lip is rolled out and they all were from Mexico plant.

Thank you sir, I'll bring it in next week.

Sad as it is I guess I'm not surprised. Anything to save a buck?

Thanks again,
