Troy Bilt Lawn Tractor Deck Squealing Noise

I am not mechanical. I have a troy bilt lawn tractor. I was mowing and disengaged the mower deck and then when I tried to re-engage it made a horrendous squealing noise and won't engage. I cleaned all of the grass out of it and looked for sticks lodged in it but can't find anything. The belts look like they are in the right location according to pictures in the manual. When turned off, I can engage the deck and it looks like it is in the right place. Should I just call a man to fix it? Thanks!

Not sure if this will apply to a lawn tractor but sounds the same.

On my MTD rear engine rider the cotter key fell out of the cable that releases the blade brake. Try to engage the blade and it just squeled like crazy.

Look in your book for the blade brake and anything going to it.
