need new 5 1/2 HP motor

Hi I am new to this forum. I have a question about what to look for in replacing a motor that failed. The motor that failed is not repairable- the connecting rod broke and scored the crank. both parts are obsolete. so I need to buy a new motor that fits the machine I had the failed motor on. Are most motors with a horizontal shaft interchangeable as long as the shaft is the same diameter as the old engine and it is comparable in HP or are there other factors to consider. The motor that failed was a Tecumseh H50 65083H serial 8233 16574 . It was powering a Jari Monarch I mower.

Other factors include the position of the crankshaft in relation to the mounting base, bolt pattern of the mounting base, position of mounting holes on the PTO side of the engine where brackets may bolt to the engine, and overall measurements of the engine that may cause interference with mounting on the equipment (like a gas tank that hits the handlebars, etc...).
