Kohler Charging Problem

I have a Kohler CV18S that has quit charging. The battery is new and the ammeter shows on the negative side when the clutch to the mower deck is engaged. It has the 3 prong regulator that has the two wires going to it. Which is the in and the out wire? What kind of readings should I get? Any suggestions are very helpful.

If the engine is charging, I can narrow down the rest.

Thanks for any help.

Tony

The center wire is the charge wire to the battery. It should have ~13.5 volts on it with the engine running full throttle. The 2 outer wires are the wires in from the charging stator. These should have AC voltage on them with the engine running. Probably around 20 volts if I recall correctly.
