Honda Motor, tapered shaft and adapting?

I have a 11hp honda motor that I want to turn into the power source for a wood splitter but, the shaft is tapered and I am looking for a way to adapt it to a standard keyway shaft. It is 3/4" at the base and tapers to 5/8 no keyway. And the hydraulic pump is 1/2" with a keyway. Any Ideas will be gratly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure an 11 hp engine will break a 1/2" shaft fairly easily. Sounds like you're not evenly matching the engine to the pump.

You can replace the crankshaft, or take it out and have a machine shop turn it down enough to get a straight section and cut a keyway.
