Honda EB5000X Generator Problem

Hi all, newbee here.
I have a Honda EB5000 Generator. A few months ago, I used it and it worked great. Went to use it today and it started great, but no power to the plugs. I checked breaker and GFCI and individual fuses. Everything was go, but still no power! I took the end cover off the generator, started it and checked for voltage. There are several wires in there, didn't know what was supposed to do what. I have the owners manual, but not the service manual and Honda isn't very free with their info. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

Post the serial number of your generator. There are six versions of the generator and service manuals are broken down by serial number.

I suspect the field coil has lost magnetism. Send me a PM with your email address and when I know the serial number of your unit I can scan and send you the procedure to restore magnetism as well as to trouble shoot the problem in case loss of magnetism is not it.

Here is a procedure to field flash a generator. I do not think this will work on your Honda but it would not hurt to try.

I would like to add to all that I am getting 2VAC thru wires/plugs. If that makes any difference.

Airman,

Absolutely amazing! It took all of about 15min. and it works! Sure beats replacing the $175 and finding out that wasn't the problem.

I don't understand how it could have lost the field coil magnetism in the first place or how a 12vdc battery would have fixed it so easily. But it did!

Thanks a million!
