Need some advice on a Honda oil dipstick

I got a Honda HR215SX in and I'm changing oil in it. The dipstick is 5-1/2" long. All the manuals I've got aren't on this particular engine but they say to fill the crankcase to the top of the small "X's" at the bottom of the dipstick without screwing the dipstick in. Would this rule apply to this engine also?

Yes, you are correct. That is the proper way to check the oil level on this unit.

Thanks for your advice, 30yearTech. Do you happen to know where I might find a service or even a owners manual for this engine?

Sorry Jack, I don't have any service manuals for Honda mowers or engines. You can find an owners manual for the mower at the Honda website.

http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/products/manuals/

You will need the serial number off of the mower, the manual will have which specific engine model that is on the mower and you may be able to locate an operaters manual for the engine as well, I don't know for sure.

Maybe someone else on the forum has the information your looking for, is there anything specific you need to know?

I was wanting to know the part numbers on the air filter element and also the prefilter. I also would like the spark plug number.

Air filter 17210-ZE6-505 (includes pre-filter)

Spark Plug is NGK BP5ES or equivalent
