engine stalling

have a 17 hp kohler on a craftsman lawn tractor that stalls intermittenly, when this happens i can look at seethru fuel filter and see it going dry, then most of the time picks back up, real annoying! seems to happen more when below half a tank, isnt this gravity fed? have changed filter drained tank changed hoses...help

Sheesh...been hearing this a lot lately. Usually the fix seems to be to put a low resistance filter on it. Get a red fuel filter made for briggs engines and put that on it. I'm betting that solves the problem, based on previous conversations here about this problem.
