Question Sears Craftsman 830 Rider Mower

Looking for engine info (make/HP) that's used on a 830 "go-kart" type riding mower. Tried Sears/Craftsman sites but only come up with the info that the machine is made by Murray (now out of business since 2004). Engine looks like a B&S but knowing Sears (they remove any and all IDs on the parts used on their equipment), it's anyone's guess? My guess is that the 830 stands for 8hp/30" blade (it does have a 30" blade).

Generally, if you can't tell what engine it has, it's a tecumseh. The briggs engines usually say briggs regardless if they are on craftsman equipment or not. What are your model#s for the engine and mower?

Cheeese - After pressure washing the engine, I was able to see an ID number above the spark plug on the shroud. Looked up the number at a B&S site and it is an 8 hp.

For what it's worth, the mower has not been run for many years and found it siezed up with no oil in the crankcase. Upon further examination, found the bottom crank seal pushed out of its seating! Maybe water condensated inside the case, collected in the seal area and froze during a winter and pushed the seal out?
Got the engine to turn over with some persuasion and hopefully will be able to get it running after a new seal replacement.
This project is a mower resurrection for an elderly man and a challenge at the same time. This is what happens when you retire and start looking for time consuming projects to pass the time
Thanks for the reply and info, Mr Q
