non starting featherlite

Hi,
I have a weedeater featherlite fl1500, 19cc
leaf blower.
It's new to me and when i got home,
i had a look at it and the tank was dry, as
was the rest of the fuel system.
I put gas in it, primed it twice, pulled the cord
8 or 10 times and it wouldnt start.
I removed the air filter, it was loaded with gas.
I left it out and tried again.
It started.
Now, i have to prime it with just half of a push
on the primer bulb even after it is warm,
any help on this would be appreciated.
I do plan to replace the air filter!
I want to get it running right and give to my father.
thank you

If it's been sitting for awhile prior to your acquisition, there is a good possibility that the diaphragms in the carburetor may be stiff. It may be time for a carburetor kit, and new fuel lines.

Hi 30yearTech,
I was thinking the same thing but i
wanted an educated opinion just
to be sure and now i have it.
Yes, i think it was sitting for awhile
and when i did get it going, it still
had that new smell.
I know the person who gave it to me and
i guess that he overlooked this one in terms of
storage preperation.
Thank you kindly for your answer,
i can see me heading to the to the local
small engine repair place for parts!
Best regards
