bypass starter

bypass starter

The starter is going out on my riding mower.
I have to connect to jumper cables and tap starter with
a wrench to start. Maybe a dumb question but can I bypass the starter in anyway? Just to get me through the season then I will replace.

Some engines have a starter cup on top of the flywheel that you can wrap a pull rope around to start. Thats the only way I can think of other then the electric starter you described.
