Craftsman Line Trimmer Problem Part II

Model# 316.791880 I installed the new flywheel but can't get the trimmer to start.

The plug is soaked in gas so I assume it's getting no spark.

I had to remove the magneto (I believe that's what it is, it's responsible for the ignition circuit) and probably reinstalled it incorrectly.

What is the proper procedure to make sure the correct gap is set between the magnet and flywheel?

Also what is the best way to troubleshoot the ignition circuit?

TIA

Make sure the ignition module is installed right side up. There is usually a directional arrow on the module that shows the direction of the flywheel rotation. Install the module so that when the engine is cranked the rotation of the flywheel matches the directional arrow on the module. I simply use a business card to gap the module. Place the card between the magnets and the lamination's of the module, loosen the mounting screws and allow the module to be drawn against the magnets with the card sandwiched in between and then tighten the module in place.
