Craftsman hard to start/no restart warm

Hi guys,
I have a Craftsman garden tractor with a Kohler Magnum 18hp engine. I have read many of the post on here and have not found one with the issue I have.
I have to take the air cleaner off and place my hand over the air inlet to the carb and crank it to get it started. The choke is working when I pull the choke, but it need the extra choke from my hand. It starts and I can mow the lawn entirely. If I have to shut it off, that's when I am also having trouble. I have to do the same thing with my hand, but it only runs for a little while, maybe 45 seconds to a minute, then it shots down, like I pulled the choke our on it. If I pull the choke out all the way, it will run just a little longer, then shut down. I have checked and replaced the fuel line and filter. I have also cleaned the needles and seats as well. I did notice today that what I am calling the governor, kicks in hard and shuts it down. Thisi s driving me nuts!!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

You'll need to disassemble and clean the carburetor well to fix the problem.
