Really dumb lawnmower question

OK, I'm an idiot (but smart enough to know it): I've inherited a beat up but running strong Craftsman 4.5 hp lawnmower, model no: 917 388531 from a friend who has since left the country. I didn't get a chance to ask him whether or not it runs on straight unleaded gas or pre-mix. Anyone know? And if pre-mix, what would be the ratio?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

The engine on the mower you posted the model number for has a 4-cycle engine. This means it uses a regular grade of unleaded gas, there is no need for any pre-mix with this engine. The crankcase will hold aproximatley 20 ounces of motor oil when empty. I would recommend SAE30 hd motor oil for the engine.
