Stihl MS310 small repair

The hand guard on my MS310 cracked so I bought a new part thinking I would replace the guard myself. This is the guard that locks/unlocks the chain, not the guard piece that you carry the saw with. It's simple enough taking off the chain cover to expose and remove the chain bar and chain, but the right arm of the guard seems buried in the mechanism under a metal cover fastened with several security bolts. The left arm is bolted in place by another security bolt which is easy enough to remove. Wonder if anyone knows how to remove that metal plate or if it's even necessary to get at and extract/replace the RIGHT arm of the guard?

The procedure to remove and replace the handle is too involved to put into words. Send me a PM with an email address and I will send you the instructions with illustrations.
