Briggs and Stratton 10 hp choke problems
I have a 5 kw generator with a B&S 10 hp motor. It uses a walbro LMT carburetor. I have taken it off and tried cleaning it with brake cleaner. The original problem continues. The choke has to be almost fully closed to keep the motor running. It has a fuel pump but I disconected it and let the fuel gravity feed into the carb from the fuel tank above. I have not put a kit in the carb and have not knocked out any welch plugs. Is ther any one had this problem with this type carb?
Any help would be appreciated.

Brake parts cleaner is only good for light or finish cleaning it sounds as if you need to soak the carb in a good bath type cleaner(per mfg instructions) and then use the brake parts cleaner or compresed air to blow out all holes, cracks and crevases. Have a good one. Geo

10 hp briggs runs on 3/4 choke only
Carb has been cleaned and cleaned again in carb cleaner overnight. Blown out with brake cleaner and compressed air.
Carb is a Walbro LMT style.
Any suggestions welcome.

10 hp briggs choke problems
OK here's what information I have collected so far:
It's a Campbell Hausfeld 10 hp rated 5000 watt generator.
Model.......19G412
Type........1186 E1
Code........990616YD
The Briggs and Stratton web site lists the model series of
19G400. The carb is a Walbro LMT. The numbers on the carb are 203 1639 MEXICO 499703
The parts list gives me a coulpe of choices for a carb kit. I really don't think a kit is going to fix the problem. Is there anything else that could cause the motor to run only at 3/4 choke position?

While the carburetor may not need a rebuild kit, I think that there must be some obstruction, either in the main jet, or the nozzle keeping it from delivering fuel to the engine. Another possibility would be an air leak between the carburetor and cylinder.

I have an additional number off of the carb which may or may not be helpful.
From what I am finding out, this must be a walbro LMT 5-4993
I've been trying to identify exactly which kit I would use but the numbers don't seem to ever match up exactly?
Let me add, this engine uses a diaphram type fuel pump. I have opened it and did not find any problems. Without drilling out / opening up some covered ports I can find nothing that indicates a restriction.
The fuel tank sits above the engine / carb and appears to gravity feed plenty of fuel to the carb without the fuel pump being used. I have tried running it both ways and get the same results.
Do you think it would run without the fuel pump?
Looking at the parts diagram on page 7 of the 19G400 parts list can you identify which lines on the fuel pump are the inlet, outlet and crank case?
Should I try and find a used carb some where ans see what happens?
I keep telling myself, "this can't be that complicated" but it getting very frustrating.

New information. I just received a rebuild kit for the B&S fuel pump. I noticed that the kit has a couple of small springs in it (apparently for the valves ) that were not in the pump when I took it apart. Perhaps this could be causing the fuel problem. I am going to install them with the new diaphrams. Unfortunately, I lost my note on how the 3 lines go back on the fuel pump and there are no indicators on the pump itself. Any ideas on which line goes where?.
