how to adjust deck on MTD yard machine 38"

I just purchased a 38" MTD Yard MAchine and it is not cutting level. I noticed that there is some slop in the linkages and want to adjust the deck, any hints, or instructions on how to do it. I did not get a manual with it. Think it is a 1997 model by engine serial. Posted in a seperate thread model and serial not readable.

Usually the deck should never need to be adjusted after the first day it gets installed and adjusted. Unlevel cut is usually due to a low tire, bent blade, worn bearings in a mandrel, broken or disconnected deck hanger. On most of the older 38" MTDs, one of the deck hangers has an adjuster nut in it and you adjust that side to match the other.

The slop you mention would possibly might just be the design that allows the deck to move up and back down.
