Hi.
I was wondering if someone could help me as to exactly what I need to do to create a "fun" riding lawnmower.
Basically make it fast
I have found a lawnmower I can get from a friend.
It is a craftsmen 6 speed.
It has a briggs 19hp opposed twin motor (looks good, and I checked and it had compression).
Do you guys think this will be good for just fun?
I plan to rebuild the motor.
I'm not sure if I want to leave the governor on or take it off??
I also am gonna make custom pipes for it
Im gonna take off the blades and all that extra crap.
And ill probably switch around the pulleys.
Do you guys think there is anything I am missing or should do different?

I built one once with a twin flathead engine and it would fly. It would stand straight up and walk a wheelie 50 feet and burn donuts on asphalt with new 4-wheeler tires on the back. I beat a 4-wheeler in a race once with it. The only thing is you're probably gonna tear the guts out of that tranny. It takes a tough older tranny like the old foote trannies with the "H" pattern shifter to stand up to that kind of abuse. I would not un-govern that engine, since it is plenty strong enough to do most anything you want with the governor intact, and your engine doesn't fare as well as others in excessive rpm situations. Get the speed with changing pulley ratios, not top engine rpm.
