Toro Personal Pace
I have a Toro Personal Pace 1999 Mod number 20022 with a badly damaged left wheel drive assembly. I have assembled most of the parts to rebuild it, but found it has a another part that has had the machined circular rim that appears to have held a gasket of some sort in place. It is described as a HOC adjusting assembly # 92 7746. I was thinking that I might be able to find this assembly on a similar Toro in my junk pile, but even if I can, I cannot see the small gasket listed in the parts breakdown. Does anyone know if the gasket comes with a new assembly with this part number?

There is no gasket in this assembly, there is however a rubber ring which in the IPL is listed as a friction ring. This ring activates the rocker key to engage and disengage the drive gear from the axle. This part could possibly be identified as a gasket, although it does not seal anything. The part number for this item is 65-4710.

Friction ring
I havent gone to the parts breakdown to check location of the friction ring you describe. but I remember seeing it along the way. On the height adjuster on the OTHER side. there is a rubber ring. That unit has a round machined ridge in it to center this ring, and to hold another thin part with two ears on it. The ring, the thin part, and the machined ridge are gone on the side I sent in the original post on. What I was hoping someone would know if Toro used the same HOC adjuster part with this ridge machined into it on other models. Your advice on the friction ring was excellent, and will keep me moving in the right direction now, even if I have to (agh!) buy another part!

Many Toro mowers used this design, and is still used on some models today. If the self propel uses the "rocker" type keys, it should be very similar if not the same as the one you have.
