chainsaw cord pulled out

I need help reinstalling my Poulan Pro starter cord. It pulled all the way out yestersday. Doesnt look broken. Have saw open to area where it goes but have no idea how to reinstall. Cant reach dad, so searched on line and found you guys. Any help is appreciated. thanks.

we really need the model # off your saw in order to look up and see what your seeing.But I think that I'll take a stab at it anyway,

By chance....does the pulley have a little screw and washer at the edge of it???

If so thread the rope through the hole,wrap it around the top of the pulley and under itself then in the trench under this screw,then tighten screw.
Run the rope through the notch in pulley & wind till spring is tight,unwind 1 complete turn, run rope through hole in starter housing,tie handle on.

IMPORTANT
burn both ends of rope a little to keep it from unfraying.
