Scotts 6.5HP Intek Edge OHV Mower

Need Help, I have this scott mower and every year I get it out to mow it will not start. I have had this problem for thr past 4 years and this passyear made it number 5. When I got it home it started right up about two weeks went by it would not start so I took it back right away and after waiting about 10 mins. they let me come back and it started right up. The owner told me it was bad gas they replaced the gas and it was no problem. So I bought new gas no problems till this past weekend I mowed my back yard and then proceed to the front quess what it would start a repeat again. One thing they told me is to spray carb cleaner in the arberator and I should not have any problems. Well that didn't work. At the 65.00 a pop I could have already bought a new one. A neighbor who works on his yard equipment start I should just buy a new carerator and he would help me with replacing it. Questions that I have does any one have other suggestions? And where would I find the model number for this push mower at? Thank you and I look forward to any suggestions.

Paul,

The model/type and code numbers on the engine can be stamped in two different places. One is in the top cover above the spark plug (under the plastic cover if your's has it) or on a flat plate sticking out over top of the muffler.

The key is to store unit's with fuel stabilizer in the tank and start them every other month or so and let run about 10 minutes. Even draining all fuel can still cause carb problems/damage if left set for long peroids.

With shop labor rates around $50 and up per hour it's doesn't take long to exceed the value of a push mower, Some of these carbs range from $35 to as much as $75. My local Wallyworld has a 21" push for $119 which in some cases is the best way to go.

Good Luck
