Murray Riding mower will not go uo a hill

Hello
I have an 8hp murray rear engine riding mower. It will not take me up a slight incline it has 5 forward 1 reverse gear. The engine is running strong... Is there a clutch or any adjustment?
Thanks for any help Mark

There should be an idler pully somewhere on the drive belt. On mine it is connected to the shift lever.

Go to Sears website--parts
Type in model # 536270112
Download (pdf ) manual.
I think this machine is identical to yours but has 10 HP engine
Good luck...........................

The belt is probably slipping. This belt is not fun to change...be prepared for aggravation if you attempt it yourself. It may also be a problem with the idler as mentioned.
