Help with coleman generator!

Hi,
I have a coleman 5500 powermate that will not turn over.
I used it once last year that is all it has been used.
I have tryed replacing the spark plug and I used quick start in the carborator but it still will not even catch?
A big storm is headed our way and would like it up and running before then
anyone?

Check for spark at the plug when you pull the engine over. If no spark, then check the on off switch, or unplug the kill switch lead and recheck for spark. If you have spark then the problem could be in the on/off switch, or if your engine has a low oil sensor, that could also be a source of your troubles. If you have spark and it still will not fire off with a prime, then you may have a sticking valve that is not closing all the way. Post back with your findings and we can go from there.

Best of Luck...
