Auger not engaging on MTD Yard Machine Snow Thrower

Hello all.

I came home from work to find that my 1 year old MTD 42" Snow Thrower fires up just fine but the augger does not engage when I push the handle for it. It is a self-propelled unit and that part of it does work.

I am seeing a yellow electrical cable inside a black rubber sleev with a white clip at the end (clip is cylindrical with two notches rounded out at the end.

The unit is a model 31AS3DDE729
S/N 1H195/10170

I have looked high and low for the connection to no avail. I figure it is the power for the auger - maybe I am wrong. I can see the windings of the motor that this cord comes from (located inside the plastic housing). The cord itself is maybe 6" long at most.

The manuals and online resources don't show this cord at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

What you are looking at is the wire to run the headlight. The other end looks just like it. 1 end goes to the headlite, the other end comes off the engine. If you do not have a headlite on it, don't worry about it.
Auger not working is:
1. broken or loose belt
2. broken or detached cable
3. cable is too loose and needs to be tightened
