blown tecumseh 9 hp snowking engine
i have acquired a 2004 craftsman 9 hp 29 swath
snow thrower in like mint condition for dirt cheap
for the reason the owner over filled the crank case with oil and blew the engine (cracked the block)the other day
wondering what internal damage it might have besides the cracked block by over filling it with oil
and also wondering if i should replace the block
or savage the engine (removed good parts)and replace the whole thing but would have to be used
and is the crankshaft if good interchangeable with other models of 8 to 11 hp engines?
i,m going to remove the engine and tear it down next week
any thoughts on what i should do?

i,m going to remove the engine over the weekend
and take it to my work bench in the basement and see where the cracks are but i tried pulling on the rope and it won't budge, the dip stick shows
oil a half an inch higher than the mark,so it's still holding oil and don't see any cracks so far

try pouring some Marvel Mystery oil down the spark plug hole and let it sit overnight. Then pull off the recoil and put a socket on the nut that holds the cup and using a long handle breaker bar, try to break it loose.

i pulled the rope starter off and i could turn the crank both ways by hand,so it's not seize
there is a rattling noise when i turn the crank
and if i turn it clockwise looks like something inside catches on something and locks up till
i turn it counterclockwise again

If it's a hairline crack that is not in a structural support area it can be clued with JB Weld or other quality high temperature glue for metal.
Drill stop the ends of the crack. If too narrow to get glue in drill along the length with a tiny drill that will permit loading the crack with glue. One the outside you can pile on a little more clue to dissapate some heat and hopefully add a small amount of strength.
I did this on a 5hp with a 2 inch hairline crack that formed a T at the top.
