Blade belt blowout

My 42" Murray lawn tractor keeps chewing up and spitting out blade drive belts withig a few months. I am buying the right size and adjusting the little 3-hole adjustment gadget for new => old belts per the manual. What am I missing?

Oem or after market

You say that you are buying the right size belt is it an OEM belt or an aftermarket belt? Most of the after market belts are not the correct construction and won't last as long as an OEM belt. Or it could be that one of the bearings in the spindles or idler pulleys are bad. Or a misadjusted belt guide or wrongly positioned belt guide is the problem.
