Toro 2500 snoblower hard to start

Toro 2500 snoblower hard to start

Have a 2500 single stage snowblower gas/oil mix 10 yrs old runs good when started but is hard to start, changed the plug no help,was told it is carb. told by second person it can't if it runs ok when it starts any ideas or just take to repair shop?

Your carb may do the job while the engine is running, but your cold start may be messed up. That would be the choke or choke circuit. Check the choke plate in the carburetor throat (first plate down) to see if it's closing for cold starting.

A weak spark plug can also cause hard starting. That is usually the first choice to replace on a problem two stroke.

If you have no luck at this point, you may need a carb kit put in the little beast. If you have a poorly sealing gasket, float valve, or jet you can have starting problems. And it goes without saying make sure you have good fuel in it.
