Tecumseh auger belt replacement instructions needed
I have a 5 hp Tecumseh snowblower. The auger belt broke and I want to repair it myself. Does anyone have instruction manual or direction for the process?
Thanks

What is the brand name of the snowblower? Ariens, Toro, Yardman? The basic process is about the same, but there are small differences that can make it a lot easier. Need to know the brand.

You have the same basic snowblower as I do. Belt replacement is easy. I don't know what you have for tools.
I have air tools. Assuming that you do not have air tools, here is how to do it. You may need an assistant to hold the pipe wrench & hold the auger lever down.
1) Remove belt guard. Remove spark plug.
2) Put a pipe wrench on the shaft behind (engine side) the pulleys.
3) Use a socket wrench on the bolt in front of the pulley.
4) These pulleys are made in 2 pieces. You only need to remove the front half of the pulley on the auger side. This is your auger belt.
5) Remove the belt from the engine shaft.
6) Here comes the tricky part. Push the belt down to remove from the auger pulley groove. You will have to hold down the auger lever on the handlebar to release the brake from the pulley so you can slide the belt off. The brake presses against the pulley groove.
7) Slide belt up between the 2 pulleys.
To install, just reverse.

My Techumseh snowblower is made by murray.
Just check the serial # on the body of the snowblower.
I am having a heck of a time trying to replace one of my belts because it keeps popping off.
You can good under murray and find your manual online if so.
