I ran the model number of the machine, it's a 4hp tec , the only number I could cross is 143.607032 which is a HS40-55253B. Part # for the starter is Tecumseh # 33290E, 3 bolt starter -1 bolt on the top and 2 on the bottom.

Actually a couple of other numbers crossed and they also used the same starter motor, they are all hs-40.

When I checked the model number of your snow blower, it shows that is came with a model 143.697032 engine. The starter shows to be the same as the one posted above # 33290E.

Sears shows it on their site for $152.00

thanks. i believe the bearings in the starter are shot or going as the starter has trouble turning the engine and will lock up. i have to remove the starter and reset it by hand cause it won't turn. this time after i reset it and plugged it in without the engine it spun but i saw white smoke coming from the starter. and this was after 1 second. it didn't do it before.
