1976 Ariens sno thro deluxe 8/32...

Just broke the axle yesterday. At the point where the shaft goes through the differential. Who thinks a weld would work to get through the rest of winter ? So far, I found a new one for $105.00 not in stock.
Thank you,
Marty

Model #...

924024 and the serial # 004393. It was purchased on 11-30-76 so it may not be a '76 model.

I would think you could get it welded in a day or 2 & for less than $105.

Latest plan....

Since it broke where the axle goes from 7/8" dia. to 1/2" dia., and right by the splines that engage the differential, it doesn't look like a decent weld spot. We're going to take a piece of 1/2" steel rod which is longer than that which broke off, bore a hole into the 7/8" part and stick 'er in. Pin it and maybe a couple small spot welds if they'll not interfere with the splines. Sounds good and we should know in about 3 days. Nearby ski area has a priority part in for a fix. Still keeping an eye out for a used axle. Never know.
