Toro 824 snowthrower

I need to get to the impeller. Can I just remove the auger unit without taking apart the gear box. And if so, is the auger assembly and shaft seperate from the impeller. For some reason one impeller blade is rubbing against the housing at one spot. thanks

The Toro website has an excellent parts breakdown to tell you if the impeller is a seperate part from the shaft. You will need your model & serial numbers, as well, post them here than the pros will know what you have. You can remove the auger/impeller as an assy, but if the inpeller is rubbing, have a close look @ the bearing behind the impeller for wear.. Roger

What is your model number? Is it still under warranty? If it is make a dealer fix it! If it isn't all you need to do is use a die grinder or a small right angle grinder and remove just enough of the blade to stop it from touching the housing but check the bearing first. Some of the impellers were welded with one blade just slightly off. To remove it you must separate the auger housing from the engine housing remove the pulley & the bolts that are on the auger shaft & the hole assembly will slide out.
