Tecumseh HS50 electric starter install problem

Tecumseh HS50 electric starter install problem

I just had to replace the starter on an Airens snow blower went to the dealer received the new starter reinstalled as per instructions but the starter won't engage properly with the fly wheel any ideas?

The part number is 33290E 19352 on the starter itself, 33290E179-81E on the box.

What do the teeth on the ring gear look like?? Turn the engine over slowly by hand & look for worn teeth on the ring gear,,,If it has the "shoulder" type bolts for the top mount, Make sure the starter is under the heads of these bolts.. What happened to the other starter??? Roger

The other starter wore out and the teeth are in good condition. The new starter won't disengage it seems like it doesnt line up properly but the bolt holes line up.

Remove starter and clamp bracket in vise and bench test it to see if it retracts and is working properly. How did you inspect teeth on flywheel? Did you remove engine shroud to inspect? It is the only way to view properly. Lastly does the machine start easily with the recoil starter?

I removed shroud visually inspected, tested starter recoils, machine started prior to starter failure last week?
