Stihl 028 problems

Stihl 028 problems

Guy's I have 028 that will start right up cold and idle but will not rev for 15-30 seconds and will then run fine then except the idle will not stay at a setting,have put new gas line and filter,plug,carb kit,impulse hose,air filter. Thx for any input.

Sounds like it is running a bit lean. Have you adjusted the air-fuel mixture? How is the compression?

Cheese you were right on with compression,pulled muffler and found scored piston. I had a parts saw an took piston and cylinder out of it for now,runs great again. Rebuild it in spring.

It's always nice to have parts around. I keep a parts saw for both of my regular saws.
