Angry Clutch cable broke

We have a Honda self propelled mower and when my husband tried to force the lever for the clutch back to start it, the cable broke (no surprise).

So...someone told us to just disconnect the "spring"? The mower won't run unless the lever is held when it is started...do we need to replace the cable and if so, how easy (or hard) is that to do?

Thanks!!

Yes, replace the cable. Not a very hard job. Being a Honda, not an inexpensive fix, either as Honda parts are priced much higher than other manufacturers.
