float needle

I have a B & S model# 62033, 25 years old I rebuilt the carb runs good but the float needle must not be seating correctly gas is leaking out the exaust overnite. I tried to reseat but no luck still the same any ideas?

Since you're into the carb anyway, replace both the float valve and the float. The problem could be either. You can test the buoyancy of the float by submerging it in gasoline if it's fiber or by checking it for taking in gasoline if it's brass.

Considering the small cost and the amount of time involved, though, I would just replace both and be done with it.

Sometimes you may have a problem getting the seat to seal with the new valve. If that's the case you can use a QTip with Comet powder cleanser to smooth up the seat.
