Craftsman lawn tractor cruise control

Can anyone explain how the cruise control on a craftsman lawn tractor works i picked one up with a base gasket leak and repaired that .and the cruise works, im just curious and cant find any books on the subject i think it in the trans its a Hydro Gear unit trhany you Andy

I'm not looking at a diagram of your mower, but in general, the cruise is just a lever that holds the transmission linkage in the set position until you hit the brake or indicate you want it elsewhere.

Looking at the parts list, Cheese is right. You just get up to the speed you want, set it and lock it. Stays until you hit the brake. It's that simple.
