snapper rear enginge wiring

Hope someone can help: I have an old snapper rear eng. Model # 25084s that has a Briggs 8HP w/ elect start.
I pulled this engine and starter and put it in a newer snapper rear engine Model # 25066. (it had a Tachusah 6 hp, no elect)
The problem is the engine turned over after the transplant, but there was 1 red wire coming from under where the push button is that touched something, arced and now somewhere is a short. I looked at pics I took prior to dissasembly and the wire looked like it was grounded even though it is red? Need help to figure what is blown. used a meter and I think but not sure if it's in the starter motor. Brushes seem ok though?

Maybe you could find the wiring info at Snapper, just compare the different model number IPL wiring. Have a good one. Geo
