B&S 28N707 crankcase repair

I am working on a B&S 28N707. It was backfiring when attempting to start it. It also had to much compresion when starting. It had a sheared flywheel key which I replaced and I adjusted the valves.

This got it running but there is a small hole in the top of the crack case so it is leaking oil. It looks like the hole may have been caused at some time by a bolt being inserted to far when using a puller to remove the flywheel.

I am looking for any suggestions on how I might repair this hole. I was thinking I might be able to drill it out and tap threads to instal some type of plug but I am not sure it is thick enough to get threads in.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd say clean it well and JBweld a small patch of metal over it.

Clean it up really good with carb cleaner & put something like J.B. weld on it & let it cure a couple of days?? There's no oil pressure in that area, is there?? Roger
